In June 2025, at the Mozart Saal of Vienna’s Konzerthaus, Madalina Danila gave the world premiere of a piano concerto written for her by composer-conductor Ovidiu Marinescu, with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra. She brings that same premiere-tested artistry to orchestras now planning their seasons.

The Marinescu Concertino

A work written for her

Composer-conductor Ovidiu Marinescu — Madalina’s colleague in Trio Casals — wrote his Concertino for Piano and Orchestra around her: her virtuosity, her sound, and the Romanian heritage they share.

The piece unfolds in three parts: an opening of full power, a middle section steeped in Romanian folklore, and a finale built on the hora, the Romanian circle dance. Madalina gave the world premiere in Vienna in June 2025 with the composer on the podium.

For an orchestra, it is a rare offer: a new, audience-friendly work with a premiere story, brought by the soloist it was written for. [confirm with Ovidiu: composer is expanding the work]
