A New Chapter with Trio Casals: A Grand Journey Continues at Carnegie Hall

I'm delighted to share that Trio Casals — where I join Ovidiu Marinescu (cello) and Timothy Schwarz (violin) at the piano — is at the heart of the next volume of PARMA Recordings' ongoing A Grand Journey series, along with a new Featured Recording Opportunity for composers.

It's a project I care about deeply: contemporary chamber music brought from the page to the recording studio to the stage, with new voices at its center.

What the project involves

Selected works will be recorded by PARMA's production team in December 2026, leading to a live performance at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall — a room Trio Casals has returned to regularly over the years, and one I always look forward to.

Beyond the recording and performance, participating composers receive:

  • Editorial coverage in Serenade Magazine

  • A commercial release on the GRAMMY®-winning Navona Records label

  • Customized publicity support and worldwide digital distribution

A Grand Journey has always explored discovery, transformation, and the many creative paths that shape a piece of music — themes that feel especially close to how I think about performing new work.

About the trio

Trio Casals has spent decades championing living composers through recordings and performances marked by clarity, lyricism, and a genuine collaborative spirit. Gramophone praised the trio's sensitive, committed playing on our recording MOTO ETERNO — the kind of chamber music that holds intimacy and ambition at once.

Being part of that lineage, alongside Ovidiu and Timothy, is one of the real joys of my musical life. As Ovidiu puts it, performing contemporary music means being part of "the catalyst for new compositions" — and there's nothing quite like premiering a work that didn't exist before.

For composers

The opportunity welcomes submissions for full piano trio, as well as smaller instrumentation — including works for cello and piano and solo cello. If you're a composer looking to develop new work within a fully realized artistic framework — high-fidelity production, a prestigious stage, and a global release — I'd love to see your music considered.
